I am

an 8th Grader in Mr. Allison's New Journalism class at East Bronx Academy for the Future

My name is Rebecca. I am smart and very sensitive. I write about things that inspire me and things I love!I love school and have good grades. I also love animals and I love to draw them too. I have many pets and want to be a vet when I grow up. Those are some things about me.
School is fun to me. I love math and science the most. I have to love it because I want to be a vet. I have fun with my friends. After school I work in the library. I get to work with my best friend in the library. It's fun and sometimes we get to hang out in there because we finished all our work. That's why I love school. For me, it is fun to see the look o my parents face when they see my grades.
When I'm not in school I mostly stay home. Sometimes me and my mom would go out shopping, to eat something, or to just hang out. Twice a month we would go out and hang out with my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We would have so much fun and we would play around. At home I would play video games or make blankets. I would also paint or draw animals. That's what I do when I'm not in school.

Have some wild fun!

I found a poem in Space #3 by Janet.

I liked “Wild fun,” because it showed what this person thinks about snowboarding and the people who snowboarding.

One part that stands out for me is: “up and down that crafted hill.Riding either way, in a rush. wow, look at that talent!” I think this is good because the person is describing what’s happening. Then she’s telling how she feels about the people going down the hill.

Another part that I liked was: “rush down the valley. Like a flick of a lighter.” This stood out for me because the person used a simile.

I look forward to seeing what Janet makes next, because I like the fact that she used a simile. I also like that fact that the poem rhymed.
